COMMON QUERIES

FAQ: FAQ

DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

If you wish to access a Medicare rebate for counselling and/or coaching, you should get a referral from your GP, along with a Mental Health Care Plan.  If you are under the care of a Psychiatrist or Paediatrician, they can refer via a letter.  Medicare will not provide a rebate on psycho-educational assessments.

HOW MANY SESSIONS CAN I ACCESS UNDER MEDICARE?

You may access up to 10 sessions per calendar year under the Better Access Initiative.  A further 10 sessions can be requested should this be necessary.

CAN I OBTAIN A PRIVATE HEALTH REBATE?

Some Private Health Providers may provide a rebate, however you cannot claim both a Medicare and Private Health rebate.  The Medicare rebate is generally higher.

HOW LONG IS A COUNSELLING SESSION?

Counselling sessions are generally 50 minutes.

DO YOU HAVE A LONG WAIT LIST FOR NEW CLIENTS?

Fortunately, I do not have a long wait list and can usually see new clients within two weeks.

DO YOU ACCEPT REFERRALS UNDER VETERAN'S AFFAIRS?

DO YOU HAVE SATURDAY APPOINTMENTS?
